Scene to Believe has recently partnered with Deaf Australia and Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) as part of an ongoing effort to improve its Santa experience, especially for children with disabilities.
Deaf Australia and Autism Spectrum (Aspect) Australia will be providing educational support to Scene to Believe’s Santa’s on how to improve their interactions with children with disabilities.
The partnerships kicked off at Scene to Believe’s first-ever Santa Community Jingle & Mingle events in July 2022. Jingle & Mingle events were held in locations around Australia and were attended by around 200 Santa’s from Scene to Believe’s Santa Community.
At each Jingle & Mingle event, Santa’s heard from spokespeople Deaf Australia and Autism Spectrum (Aspect) Australia. The presentations were focused on enhancing inclusion and communication for children who are either on the autism spectrum or with hearing impairments. Santa’s were able to learn simple strategies to make the Santa experience even more magical for children with disabilities.
“Scene to Believe aims to provide the best possible Santa experience for every child and their family, especially children with disabilities”, said Stefan Hutton, Managing Director at Scene to Believe.
“Our partnerships with these two fantastic organisations will go a long way in helping us achieve that goal. Enhancing Scene to Believe’s inclusivity and diversity is currently a big focus for the business”.
Scene to Believe aims to provide the best possible Santa experience for every child and their family, especially children with disabilities.
Deaf Australia CEO Jen Blyth said they are excited about the opportunity to help up-skill Santa’s to improve the Santa experience for children with hearing impairments.
“By teaching Santa’s basic information about what Auslan is and a few simple Auslan words, we’ll be able to create a more magical experience for deaf children. This is something everyone can get behind,” Miss Blyth said.
Aspect Senior Executive-Philanthropic and Corporate Relationships Nadja Balemans said they were looking forward to working closely with Scene to Believe to improve the sensory experiences for autistic children.
“Every child is different. It’s great Scene to Believe are working with us to make sure, regardless of their requirement, Santa’s can make sure each child gets some Christmas cheer,” Miss Balemans said.
